IS PINK THE NEW BLACK?

leather jacket- matalan/ grey dress- matalan/ sandals- primark (similar)

This almost seems like an obscene question, pink has had its 'five minutes of fame' recently but you're probably thinking, "pink the new black? She must be carried away" and me being one of the biggest advocates for all black clothing going totally agrees. Pink being the new black is a bit of a stretch, although I would understand why one would think it is possible, pink has definitely had its spotlight over the past few months and I'm not sure whether it's going to dim down any time soon.

I got this Pink Leather Jacket for a mere £30 and was absolutely chuffed (due to a lack of a better expression), when it comes to pink outerwear I'm not exactly lacking but I loved this alternative, pink take on the normal black leather jacket. The silver hardware just finishes it off making the jacket look a lot more expensive than it is. Answering the question in my title, no I don't think pink is the new black but with leather jackets it should be because this is so damn cute and extremely spring appropriate. As well as this jacket I picked up the simple grey dress seen in the picture and I've also ordered some things online so expect a haul soon! Oh and if you were wondering yes I have given up on my spending ban :(.

Is pink the new black? Have you purchased any pastel pink items for spring? Let me know and make sure to follow! Thanks for reading!

INSPIRATION | Ripped Jeans (+High Street Picks)

Source of above pictures- Tumblr

I have acquired a quite sudden and irrational obsession for overly (and by overly I mean extremely) ripped jeans. Would I be afraid to wear jeans that looked like they had been mauled by a hungry pitbull? Quite frankly no. I don't really know when I began to love the look of such jeans but it came around the same time I actually began to consider wearing jeans that weren't skinny, a few months ago I would have shunned the thought. Street style and probably Tumblr is to blame and I am going to admit I am extremely susceptible to trends, ripped jeans being one of them. With spring almost here (I say almost because I live in England and five minutes ago it was hailing) we can all brave bearing a bit more skin without the fear of goosebumps invading. With all this raving I have been doing since I am on a spending I can't go out and indulge in this trend :'( but I am looking from a far and here are my high street picks:

High Street Picks

                Asos                               Boohoo                              Bank                               Topshop

Will you be sporting ripped jeans these spring? Let me know and make sure to follow me to! Thanks for reading!

NOTD #2 | Essie Naughty Nautical

When it comes to my nails I've probably said it before but I am really lazy. When I dug this mini nail varnish up from my London Fashion Weekend goody bag I just couldn't resist putting it on. I don't own any Essie nail varnishes (because of my lack of enthusiasm when it comes to nail painting) but after putting this on I wondered why the heck not?

Even with the really mini bottle it still had a wide brush making it so easy to apply, I also love the consistency. The second picture definitely shows the true colour, it's quite a greeny teal with very very small glitters in it. Th full size bottle of Naughty Nautical (as this is a sample) is about £7.50 and although I got this free I think it's definitely worth the price!

What are you favourite Essie colours? What shades do you like to wear in spring? Comment below and let me know! Thanks for reading and make sure to follow!

BOOTS 3 FOR 2 TRAP

The 3 for 2 trap got me, oh Boots. I was happily obeying my spending ban (managing to save enough money for my holiday in Summer in a few weeks) cutting out buying new clothes and make-up. It was all going so well until this trip to Boots, and after not spending a penny on make-up and clothes that was no longer the case. Although this little hiccup has occurred I will still carry on my spending  ban because I am actually happy with the amount I have managed to save in so little time.

I picked these three Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balms for only £12 because of the offer which is a right bargain! For some reason I cannot find the shade names on the products but one is a nude, one is quite bright pink and another a deeper pink. Although I have only used one of them once the Rimmel Colour Rush Balms are very light and glossy looking on the lips, they are called 'balms' but they have an amazing colour pay-off alongside their glossy consistency. As well as these I bought some white nail varnish, nail varnish remover, a brow pencil and a lip liner.

I feel like I've been MIA as I've had a horrible flu, but I'm back! Please make sure to follow me and thank you for reading!

STYLE ICON | Millie Mackintosh

While I am patiently waiting for Made in Chelsea to return, anticipating all the dramas the new season holds I decided to do a post about one of MIC's former cast members Millie Mackintosh. I always adored Millie's style on the show and after getting married and ditching the show and it's loyal viewers (moi) I had to rely on the other cast members for amazing looks- luckily most of them are pretty stylish. Millie is definitely a lot more than just a reality star, as well as always sporting a killer outfit she has her infamous eyelash range too. My favourite looks are definitely the oversized pastel blue jumper outfit, the fur gilet one, the cobalt blue sleeveless leather jacket look (that was a mouthful) and the nude playsuit. Basically all the outfits!

Hoorah for inset days! Who can complain about a four day weekend? Not me. This is just going to be a very quick FOTD. When writing the title I had a mini flashback to primary school, there was always that one kid that thought inset days were called insect days, always used to make me laugh. Today I went for a really simple look pretty boring really but hey ho!

REVIEW | L'Oreal True Match Foundation

I feel an impending sense of guilt as a begin to write this post as I haven't posted for six. whole. days. that sounds unnecessarily dramatic but it is the longest that I haven't posted. Let's just say it finally dawned on me that May is round the corner and my ten exams aren't going anywhere. Anyway instead of trying to make you feel sorry for me I'm going to review my current foundation- L'Oreal True Match. It is almost empty and when I was deciding whether to re-purchase (after my spending ban of course) I decided what I really thought about the product.

L' Oreal claims:
The silky texture of True Match blends seamlessly with the skin. It automatically adjusts to the texture of the skin to create a flawless finish.  In 20 true-to-skin shades across warm, cool and neutral tones, True Match super-blendable liquid foundation perfectly matches the colour and texture of your skin, hiding imperfections with its fine, creamy texture. The result: Flawless coverage.
Now this product has been slightly raved about in the beauty world and I do think it is worth the hype. My shade is N8 Cappucino and although it is a tad dark for my skin once blended in it isn't at all noticeable. The vast majority of shades with various undertones means that you are very likely to find a shade that matches your skin perfectly.

I will start off with the bottle itself, the pump dispenser is very handy and allowing you to get just the right amount of product out without all of that pouring malarkey. The packaging is also pretty nice for a drugstore foundation with the glass bottle giving it a high-end feel.

Aside from the bottle the foundation itself is one of my favourites. It blends in super easily and you can hardly feel it on your skin as it's not at all heavy. I would say the coverage is medium but definitely build-able depending on the coverage you want.

The finish is quite dewy (although I think this depends on your skin type, some bloggers have said it's matte) without looking oily and has an extremely natural finish. As well as all of the above it lasts pretty much all day and has never melted off of my face (we'll see about that in Summer), although I touch it up with powder now and again on some days.

My only critique on the product is that applying it sometimes can be a bit messy, I used to put it on the back of my hand and then apply it with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush but it is so runny that that didn't really work.

Overall I love this foundation and will definitely be repurchasing. For £9.99 it is a bargain!

Have you tried True Match? What's your favourite foundation? Let me know and make sure to follow me on Bloglovin'!

LENT SPENDING BAN & SAVING TIPS

I'm not really sure where the hell 2014 is going and tbh I'm still pretty behind when it comes to dates and stuff (someone asked me the month and I said January lol). I was kind of shocked and pretty worried when I found out half way through school yesterday that it was Pancake Day and that I had no clue. The fact that I thought Pancake Day was a few weeks away also explains why I didn't think lent began any time soon... yeah I was wrong.

Anyway during the month of January spending ban posts littered my Bloglovin' homepage and I really commended the people who gave it a go, along with making it clear how I would never do such. Look what  am doing now...

If you know me you probably know that I am a compulsive buyer and my reasons to buy certain items are pretty feeble "OMG it's £3 off", "OMG it's only £1", "OMG if I happended to lose every item in my wardrobe that looks like this it would be so handy" (Yeah I say OMG alot) but I hope you get the point. I was going to do a March spending ban but I decided since it coincided with lent I'd just go that extra bit longer.

The Ban

  • Beginning Wednesday March 5 and ending Thursday April 17.
  • No clothes to be purchased within this period.
  • No make-up to be purchased.
  • No skincare products (except essentials eg. face wash).
  • No other beauty products (eg. nail polishes).
  • Only one meal out during this period (except Mcdonalds because how will I manage?).
  • Transport and other essentials can be purchased.
The main reason for deciding to do a spending ban is because I am going on holiday in Summer with the girls to Zante (eeeeeeeeeek cannot wait) and I need to pay the rest of the holiday and shop for it! Here are a few tips I'm probably going to try to get through this ban:

How to curb compulsive shopping and save
  • 'Shop your stash'- you would be surprised at the amount of items you have in your make-up collection or clothes you have in your wardrobe that have been abandoned after one use. Go through old items and products and you could you find something you once loved but totally forgot about.
  • Clothes Swap- I am a bad offender of buying too many clothes, most of them I do get a good wear out of but with going out clothes (especially dresses) I tend to wear them only once. If you tend to buy a new dress every time you are going out try swapping outfits with friends or borrowing one of their dresses- clothes can look totally different on different people.
  • Wear clothes more than once- No one likes repeating outfits, I am guilty of sometimes but you can get so many wears out of one item by wearing it different ways- layering and accessorising are just two ways you can make something like a dress look completely different, even if it's the same item.
  • Pay with cash- This doesn't really tend to help me but in theory paying with cash can help you spend less when shopping, you can physically see the damage from that 'quick trip to Topshop' and know when you are running low on funds. Paying with card makes you almost oblivious as to how much shopping you are doing.
  • Think of the bigger picture- You can make whatever you are saving up for your lock screen on your phone or just have a reminder somewhere. For me having the Zante countdown app on my home screen will remind me why I shouldn't get those shoes and encourage me to save.
  • If all else fails...- Keep your money in cash and hibernate. This will mean you can't get tempted and sorry no internet shopping either! On a more serious note Pots of Dreams are really good piggy banks that you have to smash to get the money out of, they are so pretty you won't want to damage them.

I feel somewhat hypocritical giving advice that I am probably not going to follow myself but I will give it a shot! Hopefully by writing a post on this and putting it on the internet for all of you to see I will actually have to stick to it.

Have you attempted the spending ban? What are you giving up for lent? Let me know and make sure to follow me on Bloglovin', thanks!

LUST LIST | If I Was A Rich Girl

burberry umbrella- £285 | marc jacobs watch- £229 | celine bag- £2,124 | givenchy wallet - £330 | whistles jacket- £595 | valentino heels- £1,715 | cartier bracelet- £4,400 | victoria beckham dress- £1,450

*humming Gwen Stefani rn* I have found myself in London quite a bit recently and all of my days out have ended up to be rather oppressing. Wandering around the 'luxury departments' of Harrods and Selfridges has made me internally weep and envy those who can casually stroll into the shop and purchase another Prada bag for their collection.

The items I would be most likely to 'invest' in if I could afford to would probably be bags, shoes and jewellery. I absolutely love the Celine Phantom bag and I admired it from afar in Harrods, you can never have too many bags! I feel with bags and shoes there's not a lot that can replace the original but with clothes (take the Whistles leather jacket for example) similar things for a tenth of the price can be found.

With a purse shattering total of £11,128 for a measly eight items I think I will be sticking to Primark for now. Although I am a bargain hunter I hope to think one day I will be able to treat myself to such items. I guess I  better get revising...

What items would you like from this list? What are your favourite designers! Let me know and follow me if you enjoyed this!  Thanks for reading.
