MY TOP FIVE| SS14 Trends

Here are my top five favourite trends of the season!

1. Embellishment

It seems as if heavy embellishment is going to be a key trend and with my love of all things glam I am definitely not complaining. 3D appliqués and bejewelled garments will give outfits that extra sense of opulence and make it look like you've put that extra bit more of an effort in your outfit, when you haven't.

2. Sports Luxe

Sports Luxe is going nowhere! Already a massive trend in 2013 people obviously just can't get enough of it, meaning you don't have to shop at Nike or Adidas to get the sporty look! With the incorporation of mesh, sporty shapes, bomber jackets, sweaters and elasticated details it makes this trend very easy to wear on a day to day basis, without looking like you're off to the gym.

3. Sheer

Sheer materials allow you to modestly bare a bit of skin and semi-transparent layering enable you to layer up without covering what's underneath. There are bold ways to wear sheer materials but also many that they can be worn for the less daring, including panelling and sheer inserts. Hopefully the British weather allows us to embrace this trend fully.

4. Shirts

A button down shirt has always been a wardrobe essential but in the few coming months we could see various twists on the classic button down. Every so often some menswear elements creep into women's trends and this is one of those occasions, but this boy meets girl aesthetic has been transformed and amped up from your ordinary Oxford button down.

5. Metallics

Lustrous metallics have often been kept hidden away until night outs but finally they are beginning to creep their way into day time outfits and will hopefully be a massive trend (I love all things shiny). Shimmering materials, iridescents and a love of all things silver are high on the agenda for 2014.
